Bay area artists have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with Kristin and Jardin, Proprietors of the Black Market Gourmet, in downtown Coos Bay.
Several years ago, realizing that art would enhance the walls of their large catering/event facility,. Kristin began contacting local artists.
Approximately six years ago Bay Area Artists held their first art exhibit at the Market.. With the exception of one year, during the pandemic, we have held an exhibit there every winter since.
This great tradition has always been enhanced by a gracious and generous reception. Kristin and Jardin have never charged to exhibit, nor to host. Kristin has even taken charge of selling art to interested patrons. No commission is taken. This is especially beneficial to the artists, as The Black Market Gourmet is host to many large catered events. This type of exposure is unknown in any of our other venues.
Many times BAAA has enjoyed a delicious Christmas Banquet in the facility, while appreciating walls hung with our own art. This year we will be hanging in January and February.. Our recent party was equally enhanced by walls filled with member, Kim Kimberly's, impressive African inspired art..
Many different artists continue to exhibit their art at the Market year round, allowing all of us to attend receptions in their honor, while appreciating and enjoying their work. This is art we would never have had the opportunity to appreciate, without Kristin and Jardin!
